A company logo is meant to represent a company in a way which makes it easily recognisable. It should be readily associated with the particular aspect of business involved and give customers a feeling that they are dealing with someone professional, reliable and trustworthy.
“Homemade” logos are fun to do, and can be created with the help of various internet sites offering help and clipart, frequently without cost. However, colour palettes and clipart are often restricted and many logos are created using less than appropriate colours, fonts, lines and shapes. Often amateurs will, without realising it, create logos which are actually an “eyesore” or unprofessional looking to potential customers. Added to this, use of the finished product is often restricted as the software used does not allow them to be expanded without losing quality and clarity.
Professional graphic designers on the other hand have all the training and experience regarding every possible aspect of design, marketing and psychology (particularly colour psychology – immensely important), as well as the highly advanced technology required to create professional, highly individual and easily recognisable logos for any service or manufacturing business, usable for projects from stationery or leaflets to van or roof top signs.
